Founded in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1980, Mark of the Unicorn has spent four decades defining professional audio — from the 1985 debut of Performer, the first professional MIDI sequencer for Mac, to today's class-leading ESS Sabre32 Ultra interfaces running on USB4 and Thunderbolt 4.
MOTU was founded in 1980 by engineers inspired by the original Macintosh — and they've never stopped building for the people who make music professionally. Performer arrived in 1985 as the music industry's first MIDI sequencer for Mac. Digital Performer followed, becoming the DAW of choice for film composers, broadcast engineers and recording studios who demanded rock-solid timing, deep MIDI control and no compromises.
Today, MOTU's hardware lineup spans desktop interfaces for home producers, rack-mounted units with AVB network audio for large installations, and the 828 — an interface that has been continuously refined since its legendary 2001 FireWire debut. Every product runs on the same core principle: converters and drivers good enough that the interface never becomes the weak link.
Available across MENA and Türkiye through MediaCast — authorised distributor, in stock in Dubai, with live demonstrations at the MCX Experience Centre in Barsha Heights.
The M Series brought MOTU's renowned ESS Sabre32 Ultra converters — with 120 dB dynamic range and -129 dBu EIN — into the desktop market for the first time. Bus-powered over USB-C, class-compliant, and immediately loved by professionals who know what a great converter feels like.
Two mic/line/instrument inputs, two balanced outputs. 120 dB dynamic range. Hardware direct monitoring with zero latency. The M2 is the perfect starting interface for solo producers, vocalists and podcasters who refuse to compromise on conversion quality.
Four inputs, four outputs — with the same ESS Sabre32 Ultra converters as the M2. Adds two line-level inputs and a second output pair for monitor switching. MIDI I/O included. Ideal for producers tracking multiple sources or maintaining a dedicated hardware insert loop.
Four XLR/TRS combo preamp inputs plus two additional line inputs — six channels total. Full-colour LCD level meters, A/B monitor switching, 192 kHz / 24-bit resolution. The M6 fills the gap between the M4 and the pro rack lineup, without sacrificing the converter quality that defines the M Series.
The MOTU 828 is one of professional audio's great landmarks — first shipped in 2001, now continuously refined for 2025. The current 828 and its rack siblings use ESS Sabre32 Ultra DAC technology, full-colour 3.9" TFT displays, DSP onboard mixing with effects (reverb, 4-band EQ, gate and compression), and wireless control via CueMix 5.
