Blackmagic Design was founded in Melbourne, Australia in 2001 by Grant Petty with one conviction: the tools used to create the world's finest films and television should be accessible to every filmmaker — not just those with studio budgets. That philosophy has driven every product they have ever shipped.
The company that introduced DaVinci Resolve as a free download — democratising colour grading that had previously cost hundreds of thousands of dollars — is the same company that put a Super 35 cinema camera in a jacket pocket. The same company that makes the ATEM switchers running broadcast studios globally, and the HyperDeck recorders that became the broadcast industry standard for playout and recording.
Today Blackmagic's product range spans professional cinema cameras, broadcast switchers, disk recorders, capture cards, video routers, broadcast converters and the world's most widely used post-production software. The entire ecosystem is designed to work together seamlessly — from capture on a URSA Cine 12K LF to the final grade in DaVinci Resolve 21.
