AKAI Professional

Since 1984, AKAI Professional has defined the sound of modern music production. The MPC — Music Production Center — is one of the most influential instruments ever built, credited on more chart-topping records than any other single piece of production hardware. From hip-hop to house, R&B to electronic music, the MPC’s fingerprints are everywhere in popular music. Today’s MPC range adds full standalone operation, keyboard integration and advanced synthesis — while remaining unmistakably MPC in workflow and feel. Available across MENA and Turkey through MediaCast.

THE BRAND

The machine that built modern music.

AKAI Professional’s MPC (Music Production Center) stands as one of the most consequential instruments in the history of recorded music. Introduced in 1988 in collaboration with Roger Linn, the MPC combined a sampler and a drum machine with a grid of velocity-sensitive pads — creating an instrument that felt as natural and expressive as playing drums, but with the limitless sonic palette of digital sampling. The result changed music production permanently. A generation of producers learned to make music on the MPC, and many of them still do.

The artists who built their careers on the MPC represent a who’s who of popular music across four decades — from the foundational hip-hop producers of the late 1980s and 1990s through to the contemporary electronic and R&B producers who continue to use it as their primary creative tool. The MPC’s workflow — chop a sample, program a beat, layer instruments, arrange a track — became the template for how a generation of producers thinks about making music. That influence cannot be overstated.

Today’s AKAI MPC range has evolved far beyond the original hardware sampler while preserving everything that made the original compelling. The MPC X SE is a fully standalone production workstation requiring no computer. The MPC Live II takes that power on the road with battery operation. The MPC Key 61 adds a full-size keyboard for producers who work across synthesis, keys and beats simultaneously. All of them remain unmistakably MPC in their workflow and feel — the same instrument, refined across four decades of continuous development.
